The Ministry of Education announced the ministry’s preparation plan for special education students for the academic year 2020-2021.
According to Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education, “The Special Education Directorate has prepared 197 new digital lessons to cover the curricula of the first semester, for the benefit of the following categories: Autism Disorder, Minor Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome, Speech Disorders, Learning Difficulties, in addition to Outstanding and Talented students.”
The minister further explained that these lessons will be part of the ministry’s online education portal and the special education channel on YouTube.
Through the education portal and other platforms, visually impaired students will be able to avail audio lessons and other related educational materials. Further support and assistance will be provided by the teachers and sign language experts will translate lessons for students with hearing impairment.
The platform will maintain direct contact between special education teachers and parents to ensure continuous support and assistance and sustainability of their educational development.
